Tumbleweed Infant and Preschool Houses is Seeking Quality Early Childhood Educators for our Progressive program in SE Portland.

We are currently hiring exceptional and excited team players for the following positions:
* Preschool Teacher for ASAP start date*
* Floater for ASAP start date*
One position would be the coteacher for up to 16 children ages 2-5 years, the other to support classrooms with children 7 months – 5 years.
We are a progressive school and have created our own philosophy of working with children which calls from RIE, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, Montessori, Emergent Curriculum, Anti-Bias Curriculum, and our own experiences. We value creative thinking, emergent curriculum, nature based approaches, emotional intelligence, social justice and creating self-advocates beginning in infancy. We play outside every day and value our connection to nature, our community and open-ended play! Every position has opportunities for research, leadership, and open-ended, self-directed professional development.
2 years in a certified childcare setting – Applications with no experience working in a classroom will not be considered.
Pre-requisites for working with children: RRCAN, INCCHS, CPR/First Aid, Food Handlers, Criminal Registry
Demonstrated excellence in classroom management, parent communication, and documentation as well as three STRONG references from a professional setting.

We want to acknowledge that caring for children in a group setting means we are front line workers, and working in a risk-aware environment. This means we have strict health and safety practices and systems in place to mitigate any risks that are related to working closely with children and their families. These procedures look like:
Health and sanitation – daily health checks, new procedures for entering care daily, supervised, frequent hand washing, enhanced cleaning throughout the day, individual, staggered meal service, adjustment of the environment to allow easy sanitation, and procedures for illness as it occurs.
Personal Protection – Face masks, Face Shields, Gloves and other materials are required for adults and available to all staff.
Social distancing – Including families who social distance at home and limit their social bubble or have created their own ‘pod’
Stable Groups of 16 children on site or less
Consistent and Predictable care during this stressful time.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 – $20 per hour
